'A night with the girls'
Hello! And what have I been up to this week? Well, it was my birthday you see, and some of the girls from 'Rock' (that's the name of our fellowship group) decided to take me for a night on the town. "Well golly" thought I, "What fun". They took me to a rather swanky new restaurant called 'Be' - one of these new 'concept eating' places - whatever that means! Well, all the waiters had on these t-shirts saying things like "I'm John. Do you know who you are?" and "Lucy means 'ox-bearer' - but what's in a name?". All too clever for silly old Marjory!
I had 'seared lamb caressed with fragrant beans' -very tasty, but rather dear, I'm afraid. Fortunately Joan was paying - her husband passed away recently so she's come into quite a bit of money - she's having a whale of a time! She's got herself one of these toyboys - they're all the rage these days I've heard - anyway, he's introducing her to all kinds of exciting things. He's bought her a 'rampant rabbit' - I've not seen it yet, but Joan tells me it's very nice - I've never had a rabbit myself, always been more of a cat person you see - Oh golly, I am going on a bit aren't I. Silly old Marjory!
So, after the restaurant, Joan told us about a fancy new bar that's just been opened, that Joaquin (that's her man friend) took her to last weekend. It's called 'Big Boys'. What a funny name! Well, when we got there we had a big surprise in store! This was no ordinary bar - it was full of lovely young men - and by golly, they weren't wearing much! Some of them seemed to be dancing around various ladies. Well, I'd been rather worried that I wouldn't fit in - an old fuddy-duddy like me, in my Laura Ashley dress - but in fact most of the ladies there were about my age - if not a bit older! "Well" thought I, "better join in" so I gave a little tip to our lovely young waiter - and would you believe it - he began taking off all his clothes and dancing just in front of my face! And what a strapping young man he was! It was enormous fun!
