Dear Elle,
24th Oct 2002
I have a terrible dilemma. I have fallen in love with my college supervisor, who is much older than me, and knows a lot more about the Russian Revolution than I do. My friends are telling me to forget about him and try and get out more, but I cant stop thinking about him. Sometimes I write songs about him. What should I do?
Yours,
Timmy Mollet
Dear Timmy,
This man that you like so much sounds a bit boring. There is a lady at my pre-school who keeps a lot of paints in a cupboard and sometimes she lets us use them to paint pictures of animals and houses. This week I painted a picture of the man next door, who wears funny tight trousers when he goes running. Maybe you should spend more time painting pictures like I do, and you might not be so sad.
I do not know about the Russian Revolution. Is it a bit like Disneys Mulan? They are not Russian, but there is a man who says, I am the king of the rock! I like him, but he has a funny eye, which I dont like. I think singing songs is a good idea, because it will make you feel good. Try banging a tambourine and singing happy songs like:
One two three four five, Once I caught a fish alive, Six seven eight nine ten, Then I let it go again.
Why did you let it go? Because it bit my finger so, Which finger did it bite? This little finger on the right!
I like this song, but sometimes I get the words a bit wrong. If you sing this song a lot, it will help you learn to count, and then you can be clever like me. You can be my friend if you want.
Love Elle xxx
