Dear Elle,                                                                                            30th November 2003

I am in my final year of A-Levels studying English, Theatre studies and German. My parents want me to go to University next year, but I desperately want to go to drama school and become a famous actor. I was in the school play last term and everyone said I was very good, but I don't know whether I should take the safe route and get a degree. Ideally I would like to be Orlando Bloom or Russell Crowe, but otherwise I would settle for being Ross Kemp.

Please help, my future lies in your hands.

yours,

Peter Peckless

Dear Peter,

When I grow up I am going to be a maths teacher like my daddy, because I am very good at counting. I can count to 203 without stopping. I think being a maths teacher is the best thing of all.

I have not been to see many plays, but at Christmas time my mummy takes me to see a pantomime. This year I went to see the pantomime that my big sister Ruthie had written. I liked it because there were lots of songs and a funny big lady who looked a bit like our milkman. Ruthie is sometimes in plays, and I think she must be very good because she is my sister.

I don't know who Russell Crowe is, but my Uncle Russell is called Russell and he is very nice. At the moment he has gone away to Tie-Land  to buy a new tie, and we are looking after his dog, George the dog. I like George the dog. Sometimes my daddy puts George the dog in the porch because he is woofing too much, but I always let him back into the house because I like George.

I don't really know very much about drama school, but I am going to start school next year, and I will make lots of friends. Maybe you should come to my school instead, and I will show you how to count to 203. My sister Ruthie is at University getting a degree, which is a bit like my swimming certificate that says I can swim 100 metres, but it is a bit different to that.

I don't really understand why Ruthie is at university.

I hope you have fun deciding what to do. Maybe you should play ip-dip-do to help you decide. I always play ip-dip-do when I don't know whether to have a ham sandwich or a cheese sandwich.

Love Elle xxx
